Dr. Matthew Struve DDS
I grew up in a small town in southern Minnesota called Waterville.
I went to college at the University of Minnesota – Morris and attended dental school at the University of Minnesota
graduating in 1999. I have worked in Lindstrom since January of 2000. My wife Krista and I moved to Wallmark Lake
in Chisago City in October of 2002 and we intend to stay in this area for a long time. Krista and I have three children
Evan who was born in 2002 and Sylvia who was born in 2004, and Levi who was born in 2007. We are very involved in our
church and I am looking at some opportunities to do some mission work overseas. My family has a cabin that borders on
the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota that we go to several times a year. We also like to
travel and see the world. The best part of my job is to talk and visit with my patients. I take pride in making
nervous patients comfortable and try to make your visit to our office the best dental experience possible.
History of Lindstrom Family Dentistry
In 1976 I met Dr. Daniel Strandberg, an 81 year old dentist who was approaching
retirement age. He had been considering it for a couple of years and had even talked to several dentists who wanted to buy
his practice. It was October and Diane and I drove to Lindstrom to meet him and we immediately liked each other. He had practiced
in Lindstrom his entire career, with time off for WWII, and was now ready to retire. His office was located behind the Holiday
gas station in what is now the veterinary clinic. It was pretty small. He had 264 patients and a good number
of them no longer had teeth. Dr. Strandberg was known for making good “false teeth”. I started
January 7, 1975 with butterflies in my stomach. I still occasionally run into some of those early patients; people who
have been with me for 30 years. I rented my office space from Production Credit and after a couple of years they wanted
to expand so I needed to move. The space we currently occupy had become available and I moved the three blocks and set
up shop. The reason our office is on two levels is part of the space used to be a potato warehouse and it was set up
to be at box car height. There was a railroad track that went through town on the north side of our building.
The building had been converted to office space some years before and I could move right in. We have had several remodel
and expansion projects since then and we now occupy 3200 ft2. We have 10 treatment rooms. In our most recent expansion
we also added an elevator to access the upper level. In January of 2000 Matthew Struve joined me as an associate.
He is currently buying in as a partner and together we have a long term commitment to the Chisago Lakes area. I enjoy
dentistry, like the relationships I have with my patients, and find running a business in today’s world satisfying.
People sometimes ask if I am thinking of retiring but I just can’t see giving up something I enjoy so much. I
don’t know if I will still be at it when I am 81 like my predecessor but I will be part of Lindstrom Family Dentistry
for many years to come.
